EV fleet charging software is increasingly connecting charging operations directly with payment and fleet management. On August 25, 2026, EV charging software provider Driivz announced an integration with WEX designed to simplify charging payments and billing for electric fleet operators and drivers.
The integration uses OCPI and is intended to allow fleet drivers using WEX payment tools to access compatible public charging infrastructure managed through the Driivz platform.
Charging and Fleet Payments Are Moving Into One Digital Workflow
Traditionally, fleet fueling and EV charging have often been managed through different systems.
As commercial fleets electrify, operators increasingly need charging transactions to connect directly with existing fleet payment, reporting and accounting processes.
The Driivz-WEX integration addresses this challenge by linking EV charging infrastructure with WEX payment tools.
Drivers can use payment and identification methods such as mobile applications or RFID-based access, while charging and transaction information can flow into the wider fleet management environment.
Why OCPI Matters for EV Charging Management Systems
OCPI, or the Open Charge Point Interface, is commonly used for communication between different EV charging service platforms.
While OCPP primarily connects chargers with a charging management backend, OCPI can help connect different service providers and charging ecosystems.
Charging Station → OCPP → CPMS / CSMS → OCPI → Mobility / Payment / Roaming Platform
This distinction becomes especially important as fleet charging expands beyond private depots.
A commercial fleet may charge vehicles at:
- Company depots
- Public charging networks
- Customer locations
- Logistics hubs
- Employee homes
- Third-party fleet charging sites
A charging management platform therefore needs to provide visibility across multiple charging environments.
Billing Is Becoming a Core CPMS Capability
This development also reflects another important industry trend: billing and payments are becoming core components of modern EV Charging Management Systems.
Operators increasingly expect their software to connect charging sessions with:
- Driver identification
- Energy consumption
- Tariffs
- Payment authorization
- Transaction records
- Fleet accounts
- Reimbursement
- Financial reporting
For fleet operators, this can reduce manual reconciliation between charging platforms and traditional fleet payment systems.
Public, Depot and Home Charging Are Converging
Fleet charging is also becoming more distributed.
Some commercial vehicles return to a central depot every night, while others may need to charge at public infrastructure or at employees’ homes.
This creates a more complex software requirement.
The EV charging management platform must not only monitor chargers—it also needs to connect charging sessions with the correct driver, vehicle, fleet account and payment process.
This is why interoperability between charging management systems, payment platforms and external fleet systems is becoming increasingly important.
TRENDPOWER Industry View
At TRENDPOWER, we see payment integration as one of the most important localization and scalability requirements in EV charging software.
A charging network may technically be operational once the chargers connect to a backend, but commercial operations require another layer:
Who charged? How much energy was delivered? What tariff applies? Who pays? How is the transaction recorded and settled?
For international charging projects, these questions become even more important because payment methods, currencies and billing requirements can vary significantly between markets.
A flexible CPMS should therefore allow charging operations, payment services and third-party business systems to work together through APIs and open interfaces.
Building an EV Fleet Charging Platform?
Consider payment, billing, OCPP, OCPI and fleet-system integration together rather than treating them as separate projects.
TRENDPOWER supports customized EV charging management, payment integration and fleet charging software projects.
