Beijing Sutongdian New Energy
In Q1 2025, Beijing Sutongdian New Energy entered into a strategic partnership with TrendPower. Together, the two companies will build an EV charging operation platform for Cambodia, jointly expanding into the Southeast Asian market.
It is reported that Sutongdian New Energy is a Beijing-based service provider specializing in the construction, operation, and management of new energy vehicle charging infrastructure.
Its parent company, SDB Group, is a leading integrated luxury automotive service enterprise in China. The group has built a complete industrial chain covering automotive repair and maintenance, import and export distribution, vehicle insurance, and other services.
With operating outlets centered around the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and extending across China, SDB Group has also established service centers in Europe, where it professionally carries out cross-border automotive trade.
Leveraging its mature domestic operating system, Sutongdian New Energy is accelerating its global strategy in step with its parent company.

In 2023, the group selected Cambodia as an important development base for its Southeast Asian market layout. The plan is to systematically build a local new energy vehicle trade industry chain while using the combined advantages of complete vehicle export + charging infrastructure to introduce Chinese new energy vehicles and supporting charging facilities into the Cambodian market.

According to Cambodian media reports, Cambodia is currently experiencing a new wave of energy transition.
Data shows that by 2024, the total number of registered new energy electric vehicles in the country had increased significantly compared with the previous year, with a year-on-year surge of 620%. This trend is expected to continue accelerating at an impressive pace.
Behind this explosive growth is not only a shift in local consumers’ vehicle preferences, but also the combined influence of Cambodia’s urbanization process, energy concerns, and other factors.

From the perspective of travel costs, electric vehicles offer a clear advantage.
In Cambodia, the average electricity price is about 620 riels per kWh,equivalent to around RMB 1.16, while fuel prices are as high as 4,600 riels per liter, equivalent to around RMB 8.3.
Based on the electricity or fuel required for a vehicle to travel 100 kilometers, the cost of using an electric vehicle is about 75% lower than that of a fuel vehicle. This major cost difference makes new energy electric vehicles a more cost-effective mobility option for Cambodian residents.
From the perspective of national development strategy, to achieve its 2050 carbon neutrality goal, the Cambodian government has proposed a clear roadmap for vehicle energy transition:
① By 2030, the national electric vehicle fleet will reach 30,000 units.
② By 2050, the market penetration rate of electric vehicles and electric public transport will increase to 40%.
To this end, the Cambodian government has introduced a series of favorable policies, including investment incentives, tax reductions, and import duty exemptions for related equipment, encouraging both local enterprises and foreign investors to participate in infrastructure development.
In addition, the Ministry of Transport is accelerating the development of a roadmap for charging infrastructure construction, with the goal of building an EV charging station network covering all of Cambodia.
When discussing the Cambodia project and the cooperation opportunity between TrendPower and Sutongdian New Energy, TrendPower’s business manager said:
“There are now many Chinese EV charging companies looking to expand overseas, but channels, opportunities, and resources are not always available. Companies can either follow automakers abroad as supporting service providers or rely on overseas distribution channels to develop their own businesses.”
“But no matter which path they choose, every step of overseas expansion requires careful consideration and solid planning, especially in today’s complex international trade environment.”
“As a software developer deeply engaged in the global new energy EV charging sector, TrendPower has full-chain solution capabilities for overseas EV charging business expansion.”
Therefore, in response to Sutongdian New Energy’s business development needs in the Cambodian market, and to help the partner comprehensively upgrade the intelligence of EV charging operation management, TrendPower deployed a localized Cambodia-version overseas EV charging solution.
1. Hassle-Free Hardware Protocol Integration
The platform meets international standards for the export of Chinese charging hardware and supports integration with European standards, MQTT, OCPP 1.6, and OCPP 2.0.
2. Multilingual System
The platform supports both Khmer and English, with an internationalized framework for flexible language switching.

3. Convenient Login
TrendPower supports multiple registration and login methods, including third-party platforms such as Google, Apple, and Facebook, as well as email login.
This simplifies the personal information registration process and improves the overall user experience.
4. Diverse Charging Modes
The platform provides multiple charging modes, including QR code charging, reservation-based charging, and VIN-code charging, making charging more convenient for overseas EV owners.
5. Seamless International Payments
Considering that the US dollar is widely circulated in Cambodia, TrendPower integrated globally recognized payment gateways when connecting the platform’s payment interface.
These include PayPal, Stripe, Apple Pay, and Adyen, covering more than 80% of common user payment scenarios.

As the overseas EV charging sector continues to show strong growth potential, Chinese charging brands are accelerating their entry into Southeast Asian markets.
However, overseas expansion has never been easy. Challenges such as inconsistent market standards, difficult channel development, infrastructure differences, and national policy impacts all require careful planning.
TrendPower believes that Chinese charging companies must develop a global perspective and prepare their deployment strategies in advance in order to seize the growth opportunities of the overseas EV charging market over the next 3–5 years.
Conclusion
As a leading company in global EV charging software customization and development, TrendPower provides full-scenario digital solutions for the EV charging industry.
