In Q3 2025, Shandong Yuantai Industrial Co., Ltd. and Trend Power officially entered into a strategic partnership to jointly build a charging operation platform in Tajikistan. By combining advanced digital software development with strengths in EV charging hardware manufacturing, the two companies aim to expand into the Central Asian market together.

It is reported that Shandong Yuantai Industrial Co., Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Shandong Yuantai Holding Group. Established in 2003 by the Yiyuan County Power Supply Company of State Grid Shandong Electric Power Company, it is a comprehensive enterprise integrating power engineering design, construction, and electrical equipment manufacturing, with strong financial capabilities.

Since its establishment, Yuantai Industrial has leveraged its integrated construction services to undertake thousands of power engineering projects, filling multiple gaps in Yiyuan County’s power industry. At present, it is the only enterprise in Yiyuan County qualified to carry out 0.4kV–110kV power transmission and transformation projects, as well as the construction and testing of high- and low-voltage prefabricated substations.

To actively expand its presence in overseas new energy markets and seek new breakthroughs in international cooperation, Yuantai Industrial visited Tajikistan this July for business exchanges. The visit focused on EV charging infrastructure development and the promotion of integrated “solar–storage–charging” systems, demonstrating the company’s strong strategic commitment to deepening its footprint in the Central Asian market.

Accelerating Transport Electrification in Tajikistan

An Emerging Blue Ocean for EV Charging Along the Silk Road

According to statistics from Tajikistan’s customs authorities, the country imported approximately 18,000 electric vehicles in 2024, nearly four times higher than the previous year. From January to May 2025 alone, imports had already approached 13,000 units, signaling that EV imports in Tajikistan continue to reach new record highs.

Behind this rapid acceleration in transport electrification lies the country’s abundant and clean hydropower resources, which provide a natural advantage for the widespread adoption of electric vehicles.

“In Tajikistan, filling a tank of fuel costs around 600–1,200 somoni and supports a driving range of 400–600 kilometers. For the same distance, charging an electric vehicle at home costs only 13–25 somoni, while public charging typically ranges from just 30–100 somoni.”

The significant reduction in travel costs is expected to drive a major shift in consumer behavior over the coming years, with more users prioritizing electric vehicles over traditional internal combustion engine cars.

Tajikistan EV Charging

In addition, at the national strategic level, Tajikistan is actively advancing transport electrification. The government plans to invest 230 million somoni to fully implement the 2023–2028 Electric Transport Development Program.

Tajikistan Electric Transport Development Plan

  1. Establish manufacturing bases for electric vehicles and their components
  2. Develop supporting charging infrastructure and service centers
  3. Achieve 30% electrification of all transport by 2030
  4. The government of Dushanbe has issued a decree: starting September 1, 2025, all taxis in the city will be electrified, with 500 EV charging stations to be completed by the end of 2025

To support these initiatives, under the revised Tax Code, Tajikistan has exempted pure electric transport from import duties, VAT, and excise taxes for ten years starting from October 2022. This policy applies to electric cars, electric buses, trolleybuses, and related categories.

Seize Early Opportunities in Overseas Markets

Empowering EV Charging Platforms to Support Global Expansion

The business manager in charge of Trend Power’s Tajikistan project stated:

“The EV charging market in Tajikistan holds enormous potential but requires long-term cultivation. Its abundant green electricity resources are a key advantage, while underdeveloped local charging infrastructure and market conditions remain the main constraints.

Market activation will largely depend on clear government policy guidance, as well as the introduction of international capital and technology.”

“For well-resourced and capable charging companies, now is the right time to enter and secure a strategic position.”

Global Connectivity and Multiculturalism

At present, Yuantai Industrial is actively working with key local partners in Tajikistan to establish a cooperation framework and jointly advance the construction of EV charging infrastructure.

To better meet the needs of the local market and end users, Trend Power, as a global new energy charging software developer, will leverage its digital and intelligent software capabilities to empower Yuantai Industrial and accelerate the full implementation of a “China solution” in the Tajikistan market.

Overseas EV Charging Management Platform

Protocol Compatibility

At the hardware communication level, the platform supports the international OCPP 1.6 protocol, meeting essential compliance requirements for exporting EV charging equipment overseas.

Convenient Login

Taking into account overseas user habits and privacy preferences, the platform supports one-click login via mobile number, email, or third-party social accounts (Google, Facebook, Apple ID), simplifying user registration and enhancing the overall user experience.

Multi-Language Support

The platform is built on an internationalized framework with multi-language switching capabilities and scalable language pack extensions, allowing strong adaptability to local language needs across different countries and regions.

For example, in Tajikistan—where Tajik is the official language and Russian is widely used—the platform supports multiple languages including Tajik, Russian, Chinese, and English.

Flexible Billing Rules Configuration

Through the PC-based admin system, operators can configure charging pricing rules based on different regions, dates (such as holidays), and property-specific peak/off-peak time periods. Pricing can include parameters such as minimum session fees, service charges, and parking/occupancy fees.

Charging Model & Payment Methods

The platform adopts a “charge-to-full with automatic stop” billing mechanism, calculating fees based on actual charging duration. Once charging is completed, the system automatically deducts fees from the user’s balance, linked credit card, or integrated third-party payment channels.

(The platform supports integration with mainstream local payment methods in Tajikistan and is compatible with various international payment tools, ensuring convenient settlement for different user needs.)

Charging Model & Payment Methods

Driven by the Belt and Road Initiative, cooperation between China and Central Asia continues to deepen. Chinese EV brands now account for nearly half of the electric vehicle market in Tajikistan. As a critical enabler of new energy vehicle adoption, charging infrastructure is entering a key window of rapid development.

Charging solution providers can either expand overseas alongside automakers as supporting partners or leverage local channel resources to operate independently. With market opportunities already emerging, companies should act quickly to seize the advantage.

Conclusion

As a leading provider of customized EV charging software solutions worldwide, Trend Power delivers full-scenario digital solutions for charging infrastructure. We will continue to partner with outstanding charging operators to provide dedicated services and jointly explore new growth opportunities in the global digital energy market.
