At the same time, changes in vehicle policy, fuel economics and consumer demand are making electric vehicles increasingly relevant in the local transportation market.

Bolivia began introducing incentives for electric and hybrid mobility through Supreme Decree No. 4539 in 2021, covering measures related to the manufacturing, assembly and import of electric and hybrid vehicles.

In July 2026, the government introduced Supreme Decree No. 5653, setting the Specific Consumption Tax, or ICE, rates for imported electric and hybrid vehicles through the end of 2026. Under the measure, pure battery electric vehicles are subject to a 0% ICE rate.

The market response is becoming increasingly visible.

According to data from Bolivia’s National Institute of Statistics reported in July 2026, the CIF value of electric vehicle imports reached approximately US$15.4 million in 2025. The operational software, however, must adapt to how people actually charge, pay and manage stations in the target market.

That means an overseas charging project may need to address multiple layers at the same time:

Charger protocol compatibility

Local payment methods

Languages and interface terminology

Driver registration and charging workflows

Tariff and billing models

Operator roles and permissions

Station monitoring and fault management

Financial reporting and settlement

Multi-site expansion

Local operational processes

This is exactly where our role begins.

For this Bolivia project, our partner handled the charging hardware side, while TRENDPOWER focused on the software and digital operation layer. OCPP 1.6J Integration for Reliable Charger Connectivity

The first step was ensuring that the charging hardware and our backend could communicate reliably.

For this project, we implemented OCPP 1.6J integration, allowing compatible chargers to exchange operational information with the TRENDPOWER backend platform.

Depending on charger capabilities and project configuration, this communication layer can support core functions such as charger status, connector availability, authorization, charging session information, MeterValues, remote start and stop commands, transaction records and fault events.

But in real projects, simply seeing “OCPP compatible” on a charger specification sheet is not enough.

Different charger manufacturers can implement the same OCPP version differently. Firmware behavior, message fields, heartbeat logic and individual device functions may vary. That is why our process includes charger-side integration testing and joint commissioning rather than relying only on protocol documentation.

Our wider OCPP EV charging software architecture supports OCPP 1.6J and OCPP 2.0.1 project requirements, helping customers reduce dependence on a single charger brand and prepare for future hardware expansion.

2. Yape Integration: Localizing the Payment Experience

Protocol integration makes the charger operational. Payment localization makes the charging service commercially usable.

This was one of the most important localization requirements in the Bolivia project.

Instead of building the charging experience around international credit cards alone, we integrated Yape into the platform to better match the payment habits of Bolivian users.

Yape describes itself as Bolivia’s No.1 mobile wallet and reports that more than 3.8 million Bolivians already use the service. Its ecosystem includes QR transfers, mobile-number transfers, interbank transfers and other everyday digital payment functions.

For a charging operator entering a new market, this matters.

A user should not have to change established payment habits simply because they are charging an electric vehicle. The closer the payment journey is to familiar local behavior, the lower the friction between finding a charger, starting a session and completing the transaction.

Our EV charging payment solution is designed around this principle. Depending on the country and project scope, we can integrate regional or international payment channels and connect them with charging sessions, billing, transaction records, reconciliation and settlement workflows.

3. English and Spanish Interfaces for Local Operations

The Bolivia platform also includes English and Spanish user interfaces.

For the driver-facing experience, Spanish helps make registration, charger discovery, charging instructions, payment and order management more intuitive for local users.

At the same time, English support gives international project stakeholders and management teams a familiar environment for system configuration and operational collaboration.

For us, multilingual software is not simply a matter of translating words.

We also consider navigation logic, button labels, operational terminology, charging instructions, payment prompts, error messages and different user roles. A localized EV charging app should feel like a product designed for the market—not a foreign application that has simply been translated afterward.

4. One Platform, Three Interfaces

A charging network involves different types of users, so a single customer-facing app is not enough.

For this project, we delivered a multi-role architecture based on RBAC, or Role-Based Access Control, allowing different permissions to be assigned according to operational responsibilities.

Driver App

The driver-facing application is designed around the full charging journey. Users can move through a connected workflow covering registration, charger discovery, charging, reservation, payment and order history.

Instead of forcing drivers to switch between multiple services, the application brings the essential charging functions into one customer experience.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-5785 aligncenter" IMAGE 07 -->

Operator App

For station and operational teams, we developed a mobile management interface that makes daily operations more accessible away from the desktop.

Depending on assigned permissions, operators can access station information, charging data, equipment status, operational statistics and fault-related information directly from the mobile application.

This creates a more flexible workflow for teams responsible for multiple sites or chargers.

PC Central Management Platform

At the enterprise level, the PC management platform provides the centralized operational view.

The system can support multi-station management, charger management, user accounts, charging sessions, tariff configuration, transaction records, financial settlement, reports and operational data analysis according to the agreed project scope.

Driver, operator and PC-side data are synchronized through the same platform architecture, giving the business a clearer view of what is happening across its charging network.

As the network grows, every charging session also becomes part of a larger operational dataset that can help the customer evaluate charger utilization, station activity, transaction performance and future network planning.

This is the core role of an EV Charging Point Management System (CPMS): not simply keeping chargers online, but turning connected charging infrastructure into an operable digital business.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-5786 aligncenter" 09 -->

Designed for Today’s Launch and Tomorrow’s Expansion

One of the key considerations during development was that the customer’s needs will not remain static.

A charging business launching its first group of chargers has very different requirements from an operator managing dozens of stations across multiple cities.

At an early stage, the priority may be basic charger connectivity, user registration, charging and payment.

As the network grows, the customer may need deeper operational functions such as multi-site management, differentiated pricing, role hierarchies, financial reconciliation, data reporting, API integration, additional charger brands or new payment channels.

That is why we did not treat the Bolivia platform as a collection of isolated app screens.

We built it as a scalable operational foundation that can evolve together with the customer’s charging business.

Our development principle is simple: the Launch

Localization cannot be completed with a single language pack or payment plugin. It requires coordination between business requirements, charger hardware, software architecture, payment processes and the local user experience.

For the Bolivia project, our team worked with the partner through the complete development cycle.

Requirement Discovery

We first clarified the target market, charger specifications, user groups, payment requirements, operating model and expected future network size.

Solution Architecture

Our product and technical teams then defined the application structure, backend modules, role permissions, charger communication logic and integration requirements.

Prototype and UI/UX Design

Before full development, the charging and management journeys were translated into product prototypes so that both teams could align around the final operational workflow.

Development and Integration

We developed the required mobile and PC interfaces while integrating charger communication, Yape payment logic and other business modules.

Testing and Joint Commissioning

Our team tested the interaction between chargers and the backend platform, including the functions required for the agreed charging workflow. Localization, account permissions, payment processes and management functions were also reviewed before launch.

Deployment and Continuous Optimization

Our involvement does not end when the software goes online. As the customer’s business develops, we can continue supporting system optimization, new functions, charger integration and operational expansion according to future project requirements.

What This Bolivia Project Means for Our South American Expansion

For TRENDPOWER, the significance of this project goes beyond launching another charging platform.

South America is not one single EV market. Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Peru and other countries have different payment ecosystems, languages, regulations, charger environments and commercial models.

Companies entering the region therefore need more than a globally available software product. They need a software architecture that can be localized market by market without rebuilding the entire platform from zero.

This is one of the capabilities we have developed through our international project experience.

Our charging software has supported projects across 30+ countries and regions, and every deployment adds practical knowledge around protocols, payment methods, languages, operational processes and local business requirements.

For us, global deployment does not mean giving every customer exactly the same system.

It means using a proven technical foundation while adapting the operating experience to each market.

Hardware Goes Global. Software Must Go Local.

This Bolivia project reinforces a lesson we see repeatedly in international EV charging projects:

Getting chargers into a country is only the beginning.

To turn those chargers into a sustainable charging service, businesses also need to solve connectivity, payment, language, customer access, station management, billing, data and long-term operational scalability.

This is where TRENDPOWER creates value.

Our core expertise is the digital layer behind the charging network. We work with charger manufacturers, charge point operators, fleet businesses, EPC contractors, energy companies, property groups and other charging businesses to develop software around their hardware environment and commercial model.

Depending on project requirements, our capabilities cover OCPP charger integration, customized charging platforms, localized payment systems, multilingual applications, operational management, billing and settlement, data analytics, multi-role management and white-label EV charging software.

For customers entering new countries, we want to solve one critical question:

Can your software enter the market as quickly as your charging hardware can?

With the Bolivia project now adding another milestone to our South American footprint, we will continue helping international charging businesses turn local market requirements into scalable digital operations.

Planning an EV Charging Project in Bolivia or Latin America?

If you are an EV charger manufacturer, charging point operator, fleet business, energy company or infrastructure investor preparing to enter Bolivia or another Latin American market, our team can help you evaluate the software side of the project before deployment.

Tell us your target country, charger model, OCPP version, expected number of chargers, payment requirements, languages and operating model.

We can then work with your team to define a practical software architecture for launch and future expansion.

Talk to TRENDPOWER About Your EV Charging Project

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Bolivia EV charging platform?

A Bolivia EV charging platform is a software system designed to connect compatible EV chargers with drivers, station operators and business administrators while adapting charging, payment, language and operational workflows to the Bolivian market. Depending on project scope, it can include charger monitoring, driver applications, payments, billing, station management, reporting and other operational functions.

Does TRENDPOWER support OCPP 1.6J chargers?

Yes.
